Thailand

I went to Thailand for the first time over a decade ago. I still remember my first night in Bangkok. It started at 10pm in Khosan Road, a bustling area of backpacker hostels. I remember telling myself, “I’ve not slept in 36 hours. I’ll just pop out and get something to eat then I’ll go back to the hostel and sleep.” Eight hours later I made it to bed. So began a love affair with Thailand that hasn’t ended.

A Thai woman I met that night talked about “farang” men – what she liked about them and what she didn’t like about them. I’d already read about the term “farang” in my Lonely Planet book (this was 2003) on the plane there. “Farang” is the name the Thais use to describe someone of European descent.

The following three months consisted of going for long motorbike drives through beautiful scenery, visiting temples, playing a lot of pool, reading, meditating, eating, meeting more beautiful women, and sitting in internet cafes.

But there are other reasons why Thailand is a great place to run an online business in the 2010s.
